According to a special notice posted by the Washington Department of Revenue, the City of Prosser is increasing the Tourism Promotion Area (TPA) lodging charge.

The charge applies to "hotels, motels, and bed and breakfast facilities located within the City of Prosser TPA" with 40 or more rooms unless they are one of the following:

  • Education institutions selling overnight lodging to non-students;
  • Private lodging houses, dormitories, and bunkhouses operated by or for businesses or students, so long as they are not open to the public; or
  • Guest ranches or summer camps that provide room, board, special recreation facilities, and instruction.

The new TPA charge, effective April 1, 2013, is $0.75 per room per night of stay.
